Sheltered inside
I wake up in the morning and cannot name the day.
How can I?
What makes it different?
My yesterday marches humdrum
into today
the same routine as my tomorrow.
Tedious, predictable minutes pile up
More than my head can hold.
Outside
contrary
the disease spreads and kills
Wide and wild
with surprise drills across the globe
No halt in the array.
I pray for ease
in the pitch of my anxiety…
in the number of the dying.
I wake up in the morning and cannot name the day.
How can I?
What makes it different?
My yesterday marches humdrum
into today
the same routine as my tomorrow.
Tedious, predictable minutes pile up
More than my head can hold.
Outside
contrary
the disease spreads and kills
Wide and wild
with surprise drills across the globe
No halt in the array.
I pray for ease
in the pitch of my anxiety…
in the number of the dying.
