The times I was really scared about something (like right before my C-section),
I turned my thoughts to a positive, possible outcome (like holding my precious baby in my arms).
That helped and still does.
I also look for omens, signs from God.
The other day driving home, I was immersed in prayer to ease my fear of an ongoing problem
and decided to take a side road,
realizing I was too distracted to be on the expressway.
Rounding an unfamiliar bend, I was completely overpowered by the sun
which was setting with all its strength.
All surroundings disappeared in an instant, seized by the blinding light.
Just as quickly my eyes adjusted,
but it took a few minutes longer for me to realize
God had just responded to my prayer
by making his magnificent appearance.
Our Father never fails to reassure me.
